After Katie Hoffmann, a citizen of Butte County, read a portion of the first cannabis ordinance that stated the County Commission’s duties to make informed decisions for our safety and welfare, and asked for copies of their research the ordinance stated they needed to do, what followed was eye-opening and revealed the true colors of the county commissioners, state’s attorney and sheriff as a whole.
After half-hearted answers from the chair, Travis Ismay voiced his feelings about their lack of answers, and it was then that, it seemed, James Ager took advantage of the opportunity and illegally removed Mr. Ismay, while the rest of the commission, auditor, sheriff, and state’s attorney complied or just watched and never intervened in order to uphold the law concerning this kind of situation. Ager then proceeded to verbally attack Katie Hoffmann, despite the decorum and respect shown by her to the commissioners when asking for information, while the rest of those in the room remained silent at this kind of behavior exhibited by a county commissioner towards a tax payer.
