Local attorney and medical marijuana business owner Matthew Kinney answered a question asked by Travis Ismay of what the difference is between medical and recreational marijuana. He answered, “How it’s sold and marketing.”
If that’s the case, does real medical marijuana even exist? Why label what we see now being sold as medical if it can double as recreational? What does this mean then concerning the true goals and desires of the marijuana business owners like Kinney, Barker, Woodruff, Kahler, the Muellers, Moncur, etc, when their product names are nothing even close to being described as something medicinal? Here’s another local example… Is it really about helping people with a medicinal miracle that covers a multitude of ailments and diseases? Is it worth operating illegally like Woodruff was for a year due to stating he’s a resident of Butte when Sue Broadhurst discovered no one on the board was? Why is our county commissioners (Save for Erk) ok with allowing these kinds of businesses to operate here and outside of the confines of the local ordinance they adopted? Do we really need this kind of “medical” marijuana anyway when 4 different FDA approved medical marijuana drugs exist already?
Edit to add: Along with all of our other questions, how about the research beginning to come out of the increased risk of heart attack, heart failure, and stroke with consistent marijuana use?
