Nisland had a person that wanted to put in a marijuana grow farm. About 50 people showed up to their city council meeting. They learned that the city wouldn’t make one cent from sales tax from this business, and they had people raise their hands for who didn’t want it. Our sheriff didn’t raise his hand until the camera was on him. Everyone else in attendance didn’t want it.
The city council is a night and day difference from the county commission in how they treat the citizens as equals, allow discussion and actually engage them and listen and do the will of the people.
Our county commission chair, James Ager, could stand to learn from the Nisland city council.
